Covid-19 Donation Outreach Letter
Our hope is that this letter reaches you in good health, in this precarious time. It is sent humbly. We know this is a difficult time for everyone. Still, we’re reaching out to you in order to help our community stay afloat, as both personal and professional wellness are tested.
The Florida Keys now face a formidable challenge: The Covid-19 pandemic has fallen squarely on peak fishing season. Hotel closures, travel restrictions and shelter-in-place orders have effectively stopped seasonal commerce in Monroe County. In a matter of days, guides’ calendars have been wiped clean of their charters for the foreseeable future.
The Florida Keys Fishing Guides Association (FKFGA) exists in large part for times just like these. Historically, the FKFGA has provided financial relief to its members in both individual and communal instances. Once again, the FKFGA is working to secure aid in response to the income disruption caused by this outbreak.
To help them in that effort, we greatly appreciate your consideration of directly supporting the fishing guides of the FKFGA through monetary donation to the Florida Keys Fishing Guides Foundation (FKFGF). Each contribution is tax-deductible, and will directly support the livelihood of FKFGA families and small business members during this hardship.
To donate, please make checks out to the Florida Keys Fishing Guides Foundation, with “Covid-19 Relief” in the memo. Mail your check to FKFGF, PO Box 936, Islamorada, FL 33036.
Your help now could be the very lifeline one family needs to survive this event.
United in our love of the Keys, we thank you in advance for your solidarity in this cause, and for your selfless support during this critical time.
Take precautions, stay safe, and we look forward to seeing you in the Keys again soon.
